The Radiation Piece – Chronik einer Suche
Guided Tour/Audio installation, 2-channel, Kunsthalle Bern, 2016
The project searches for traces of early conceptual art and deals with the capturing and archiving of the immaterial and ephemeral. It is a research project on a work by the American artist Robert Barry.
In 1969 he deposited a radioactive element in a room on the top floor of the Kunsthalle Bern, URANYL NITRATE (UO2 (NO3)2). In 2009 Barry spoke about his work in an interview with Mathieu Copeland and stated: «As far as I know, it‘s still there!» and «Time is the essence of this piece».
A guided tour to the top floor of the building and an audio piece in the empty vestibule intended to recall Robert Barry‘s work. The audio piece is composed of text fragments of texts, quotes from Barry himself, and texts that trace the research of his work.
