Sound piece, 2-channel, Connected Space: Schwobhaus as Guest in Kino Corso, Bern, 2020

The sound piece was shown during a cultural guest event in an erotic cinema. It refers to the mythological figure of the sirens; the creatures, half fish, half woman, who attract with their seductive singing and thus drive sailors to their death. The work is based on the new interpretation of Homer's Odyssey by Franz Kafka "The Silence of the Sirens", and his interpretation that the Sirens not only recognize Odysseus' cunning, but deliberately keep silent so that he cannot indulge in their sweet song, enjoy it complacently and without danger. The text passages in the sound piece originate from Hélène Cixous' essay "The Laugh of the Medusa", a feminist piece in which the author, starting from female desire, argues for autonomy  and self-empowerment.
